On October 12, 2013 the Goguikian Foundation working in partnership with the Municipality of Bourj Hammoud, the Ministry of the Environment, seven local schools, and local banks and businesses, launched “Ready, Set, Recycle!” a community service project written and executed by the Foundation scholarship recipients who were asked to write a project to benefit their community and their country.

People of different walks of life participated in the launching of a green project in the heartland of the Lebanese Armenian community. Students, parents, residents, principals, MPs, environmental activists and scouts took part in a series of activities that marked the beginning of a recycling project

The project aims to spread environmental awareness in schools, NGOs and universities, and at the same time recycle paper, plastic and aluminum cans through participating local banks

At the Opening ceremony, several speakers addressed the audience, including Mr. Michael Goguikian the President, Mrs. Soheila Hayek the Executive Director , Mr. George Krikorian Deputy Mayor of Bourj Hammoud, Mr. Christ Der Sarkissian representative of Arcenciel , Foundation’s partner in awareness and recycling and Mr. Melkon Eleyjian representative of the Foundation students.
