Over 3000 People Celebrate Armenian Youth a Hundred Years On!

To commemorate the centennial of the Armenian Genocide and as a symbol of unity, resilience and excellence of the Lebanese Armenian community, The Goguikian Foundation sponsored an unprecedented event at the Forum de Beirut on May 9, 2015.

In the presence of over three thousand attendees, the Foundation sponsored The Mutual Graduation Ceremony of the 13 Lebanese Armenian High schools. This celebration, which was the brainchild of the Armenian Genocide Centenary Commemoration Central Committee of Lebanon (AGCCCCL), was co-organized by Mr. Aram Karadaghlian, the Foundation’s marketing coordinator who was also the event’s Master of Ceremony.

The class of 2015 consisting of 296 graduates, representing the fourth generation of survivors of the Armenian Genocide, received commemoration diplomas during this event and through two speeches in Arabic and in Armenian, and recital of poetry and songs, reiterated their loyalty to their country Lebanon and to their history and culture as Armenians and vowed never to forget their roots.

On this Occasion, Mr. Michel Goguikian the President of the Goguikian Foundation wrote,

“This monumental task undertaken by the Armenian Genocide Centenary Commemoration Central Committee of Lebanon and the participating high schools symbolizes not only our unity as a community, but stresses the importance we accord to education.”

Attendees of this event included the President of the Foundation, Mr.Michel Goguikian, representative of the Minister of Education, Elias Bou Saab, members of the Executive Board of the Foundation, members of AGCCCCL, representatives of the three Armenian churches, and the three political parties as well as representatives of the 13 Lebanese Armenian high schools.

The Goguikian Foundation believes that by joining forces with the AGCCCCL in making this historical event a success, it has paid tribute to the living memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
