The Goguikian Foundation contributes in the establishment of the CENTER FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS

The Goguikian Foundation actively contributed in the establishment of Howard Karagheusian Commemorative Corporation’s CENTER FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL NEEDS which was inaugurated on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in the presence of public figures and leaders of the Lebanese-Armenian Community.

This unique project was made possible thanks to the efforts of the board and management of the Howard Karagheusian Commemorative Corporation, the partnership of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the collaboration of The Goguikian Foundation and the Pontifical Mission in Lebanon.

The collaboration of The Goguikian Foundation focused on offering full scholarships to young Armenian students, in order to assist them to specialize in majors such as Speech therapy, Special Education and Psycho-motor Therapies, in one of the best universities in Lebanon, so that after they graduate they can be enrolled in the Armenian community development services by volunteering 40 hours per month to provide counselling and support to the Armenian students. The first speech therapist graduated in July 2013, the second specialist graduated in July 2014, and they both started serving in the children’s center. The third specialist will be graduating in July 2016 and hopefully will start serving soon after.

The executive director of The Goguikian Foundation, Mrs. Soheila Hayek delivered a speech during the center’s inaugural ceremony, in which she thanked all the people behind the success of the project and wished the center strength and growth with the hope that The Goguikian Foundation’s contributions in developing human resources for the center will have a lasting effect on its success for the years to come. At the end of the ceremony Mrs. Hayek and Mrs. Flavie Goguikian received an appreciation award from the Howard Karagheusian Commemorative Corporation.
