AL BAYAN Arabic Essay writing competition, founded in 2012, is an initiative of The Goguikian Foundation to encourage mastery of the Arabic language among the young Armenian high school population.
Additionally, The Goguikian Foundation recognizes excellence in Arabic language classes in all Armenian high schools and awards the top students during the AL BAYAN Awards Night held annually.
AL BAYAN Arabic Essay Writing Competition
The Goguikian Foundation yearly invites all Armenian High Schools to participate in AL BAYAN Arabic Essay Writing Competition by introducing one 11th-grade student from their high school that excels in writing in Arabic (إنشاء) to participate in an essay writing competition held at The Goguikian Foundation offices on topics provided by the Foundation.
These essays are graded anonymously on grammar, structure and analysis by three Arabic professors from The Foundation partner universities and the results are announced during the AL BAYAN Awards Night.
During this event, the top three winning essays will each receive a prize and the audience hears the winning essay read by the winner. Additionally, the Foundation awards an AL BAYAN Trophy to the high school of the winning essay, to remain on the high school premises, serving as a reminder to encourage students to improve their Arabic language skills. Each year the Trophy is returned to the Foundation to be awarded to the winning high school of that year. Any high school that wins the AL BAYAN trophy three times consecutively, will keep the trophy.
AL BAYAN Arabic Excellence Award
Each year, Armenian high schools also provide the names of the previous year students with highest scores in Arabic in grades 10th, 11th, 12th and during the AL BAYAN Awards Night, in the presence of Media, and community leaders, families and friends who are invited and encouraged to attend to support their students and high school.
AL BAYAN’s goal is to encourage excellence in the Arabic language.
