AL BAYAN Awards Night 2012

On Friday, 30 November 2012, THE Goguikian Foundation held a ceremony to award students of 10th, 11th and 12th grades of the 12 Armenian high schools, who had the highest grades in Arabic language in their class and to announce the AL BAYAN ARABIC ESSAY WRITING competition winners for the academic year 2012-2013.

The ceremony took place at 7:30 pm at the Auditorium of Haigazian University with the presence of the president of Haigazian University Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, Executive Board Members of the Foundation, high School principals, parents and students.

The ceremony started with a welcome speech, delivered by Mr. Aram Karadaghlian who stated that the Goguikian Foundation aimed to encourage Armenian students to master the Arabic language.

Then DR. Suzy Semerdjian, a member of the Executive Board of the Foundation, delivered her message stating the importance of Mastering the Arabic Language in the future of the Armenian youth and the community in Lebanon. She also stated that the language was the most important aspect and acted as a bridge to exceed all the boundaries.

After her speech awarding of the students with the highest Arabic grade of 10th, 11th and 12th grades took place.

Following the awards Ms. Varanta Yacoubian one of the Jean Goguikian Scholarships Recipients, sang an Arabic song and Ms. Mari Abdel Ahad played Aoud.

Then Mr. Ziad Hayek, Secretary General of the Higher Council on Privatization, and a member of the Executive Board of the Foundation and the Guest Speaker of the night, explained about the Al Bayan competition, highlighting the topics covered and the way it was corrected. Mr. Hayek expressed gratitude to the three jurists that helped to choose the best three winners of the competition. He also mentioned that the school of the winner will receive the Al Bayan award and maintain it for a year.

At the End of his speech the three winners of the AL BAYAN COMPETITION were declared.

First place, Sandra Cheukmekian from Mesrobian High school & technical college

Second place, Ani Tashjian from Hripsimiantz College

Third Place, Meghry Baghdoyan from Armenian Evangelical College

And the AL BAYAN Trophy went to Mesrobian High School & Technical college, which was received by the principal of the school, Mr. Gregoir Caloust.

The ceremony came to an end with a perfermance by pianist and singer, Ms. Nanor Majarian.
