In his message, Haigazian University’s President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, described the new agreement as “an exemplary plan of linking successful past experience (as in Ambassador Jean Goguikian’s career), with caring resourcefulness at present times (as in Mr. Michel J. Goguikian’s and the participating universities’ case) with opportunities for the advancement of society in the future (as in the prospective young candidates’ case).”

He added that the scholarship program also poses challenges for universities, the government, and the Lebanese people (including Armenians), to “properly prepare public servants and not only diploma holders,” to “progressively make it attractive and meaningful for all citizens, including people of various minorities, to join the public effort for governing and turning the republic into a sustainable arena of development,” and to “consider public service as a worthy medium of creativity and work, and not only as a mechanism of self-defense,” respectively.
